VGBC Episode 63: Gogo Incognito talks cosplaying, gaming, whiskey, and … other … stuff

In this episode, we’re chatting with our friend and master cosplayer, Gogo Incognito. Gogo brings by some smoked whiskey for us to try and things quickly and pleasantly devolve into perhaps our “bluest” episode ever. This is not one for the kiddies! Unless of course you’d like to have an excuse to have some serious life conversations early — which you probably don’t.

Community Post: Bastion deserves your attention… NOW!

This community post is brought by my good, long time friend Michael Stewart. He posted this on his Facebook page recently and I asked him if I could share it with you guys. He said “yes”! so, cool. There ya go. Enjoy:

 photo bastion.jpg

I know this game is not NEW by any means (Late 2011 I believe), but it deserves a RE-POST, especially since I just pulled it back out last night and today. If you have not played it… BASTION deserves your attention, and if you have played it, it probably deserves a revisit from you.

I was reminded again last night why Bastion is perhaps one of my favorite PC games of the past few years. For such a simple concept of a game in terms of controls it truly delivers an immersive environment for the player in visuals, music, effects, voiceovers (omg the voiceovers… love his voice…any gamer should lol), general flow to the game, and innovations (one of my favorites being that your surroundings literally build themselves as you walk. This was the first game to do it and other games have copied it since then).

I have now played through this game 3-4 complete times (lost track- lol). And each time I have been able to tweak it to be an entirely different play-through experience because of the New Game Plus feature that unlocks once you play through the first time. Bastion’s New Game Plus mode allows you to set up the mobs with bonuses to their resists / damage / regen / etc. This last play-through I had every single bonus activated except for two to make it extremely difficult for me to complete. My next challenge will be to complete it with ALL of them activated. Probably not today of course, but some time in the future.

The developers of this game have really gone all out to give the players the best experience possible. The initial game is forgiving where it needs to be and teaches you up front how to play the game. Then later on, you can bump up the difficulty as you see fit for the added bonuses I described to experience or just general fun / challenge.

Anyway, let me know what you think if you give it a try. I think it is WELL worth the cost of the game… which is super cheap ($15 right now at regular price on Steam, but cheaper on sale days… seen it go as low as $3) AND I think even the soundtrack is worth the cost to be honest ($10). SuperGiantGames knocked this one out of the park!
